Supporting an Outside the Wire event not only helps raise awareness for our mission of serving current and former service members and their families, but it also provides a valuable opportunity to connect veterans with other valuable services that may better meet their specific needs. Additionally, it fosters relationships with community supporters and partners who share our commitment to the foundation's mission.
In October 2010, the 778th Transportation Company (HET), based in Kansas City, Kansas, under the 287th Sustainment Brigade, deployed to Kuwait with the critical mission of transporting military equipment and supplies out of Iraq during the drawdown. After completing more than 200 combat missions in Iraq, the unit truly lived out its motto, “Sustain the Victor,” reflecting the brigade’s essential role in supporting mission success. In November 2011, the 778th proudly returned home to the Sunflower State.
Outside the Wire is honored to host and sponsor the 778th Reunion on September 25–27, 2026, at the Honey Pitt in Southeast Kansas. This gathering is open not only to members of the 778th and their families, but also to local veterans from the Southeast Kansas (SEK) community, creating an opportunity for connection, reflection, and shared camaraderie.
Through fundraising efforts, donations, scholarships, and grants from the SEK community, Outside the Wire is able to support the heroes who answered the call and served their nation during a critical moment in history. We are proud to welcome the 778th, their families, and fellow veterans to a weekend of camping, grilling, fishing, storytelling, and—of course—some mandatory fun.
