Supporting an Outside the Wire event not only helps raise awareness for our mission of serving current and former service members and their families, but it also provides a valuable opportunity to connect veterans with other valuable services that may better meet their specific needs. Additionally, it fosters relationships with community supporters and partners who share our commitment to the foundation's mission.
In October 2010, the 778th Transportation Company (HET), based in Kansas City, Kansas, under the 287th Sustainment Brigade, was deployed to Kuwait with the primary mission of transporting military equipment and supplies out of Iraq during the drawdown. After completing more than 200 combat missions in Iraq, the unit upheld its motto, “Sustain the Victor.” The motto reflects the brigade's role in providing essential support to ensure mission success. In November 2011, the 778th returned to the Sunflower State.
On July 18, 2025, Outside the Wire is proud to host and sponsor the second annual 778 reunion for service members and their families.
Through fundraising, donations, scholarships, and grants from the SEK community, support will be provided to the heroes who answered the call and served their nation in a time of need. OTW is proud to welcome the 778 and their families to SEK for camping, grilling, fishing, and some mandatory fun.
